Each of Benjamin Lacombe's exhibitions at Galerie Daniel Maghen—more than ten to date—has been a true event. Through an immersive and captivating scenography, the artist brings the worlds of his books to life. Considered one of the leading figures of contemporary French illustration, his unique and instantly recognizable style enchants audiences through its rich colors and poetic atmosphere.

Benjamin Lacombe is one of the most sought-after contemporary illustrators. His gallery sales since 2010 have exceeded €2 million. Auction record at Christie's (2015): €37,000 including VAT.

Pencils, graphite and colored pencils are long-lasting. Pieces in wax crayon, black lead or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. However, never expose them to direct light. Like all materials, the paper used for these works is susceptible to change when exposed to UV light.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

French author and comic artist born in Paris in 1982, Benjamin Lacombe is one of the leading representatives of the new French illustration movement. He has written and illustrated around forty books, with more than three million copies sold worldwide. Several have been translated into around ten languages and have received international awards, including Genealogy of a Witch, The Fairy Herbarium, Madame Butterfly, Macabre Tales, Alice in Wonderland, and Frida. His artwork has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and institutions including the Maison Victor Hugo, the Palace of Versailles, the Grand Palais, the Conciergerie, the Palazzo Ducale di Lucca (Italy), the ABC Museum (Spain), the Biwako Biennale (Japan), Haven Gallery (USA), Dorothy Circus (Italy), Maruzen (Japan), Nucleus (USA), and, of course, Galerie Daniel Maghen, which represents him.
