With his Jazz Maynard series, Roger has created one of the best noir series of recent years. This fast-paced crime thriller plunges us into the heart of the thrilling adventures of Jazz Maynard, a virtuoso trumpeter and master thief, set in the working-class neighborhood of El Raval in Barcelona. A true master of black and white, Roger depicts the twists and turns of the Catalan underworld with exceptional mastery of inking and lighting. His innate sense of movement and composition results in sumptuous panels, whether depicting epic brawls or the typical atmosphere of jazz clubs.

The success of the auction dedicated to Roger Ibáñez, organized by Maison Daniel Maghen in 2021, confirms collectors’ interest in this key figure of the Spanish school, who is admired and collected by his peers. The auction dedicated to him raised €113,400 for 17 works, including the original cover of Volume 2 of Jazz Maynard, which sold for €11,400. 

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

A Catalan artist and writer born in 1977, Roger Ibáñez Ugena trained at the École Joso and began his career in fanzines and manga magazines such as Sukube and Penthouse Comix. After working on erotic publications and collaborating several times with Raule, the duo created Jazz Maynard (2007–2019), a seven-volume series published by Dargaud. In 2024, he released the graphic novel Le Dieu-fauve (the Beast-God) with Fabien Vehlmann (Dargaud).
