As the artist behind Thorgal, Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel, Complaintes des landes perdues, La Vengeance du Comte Skarbek, and Western, Grzegorz Rosinski is a legendary figure in Franco-Belgian comics. His realistic style, mastery of inking, and talent as a painter have left a lasting impression on generations of readers and countless artists, including Mathieu Lauffray, Ralph Meyer, and Alex Alice. Together with Belgian writer Jean Van Hamme, he created the Thorgal series, which became one of the greatest comic book successes of all time, selling millions of copies and being translated worldwide. This cult heroic fantasy series is considered a benchmark for the genre and for the history of comics. For 30 years, the Galerie Daniel Maghen has represented the artist. This collaboration has already resulted in a record-breaking first auction in 2017 (total: €614,900 / 28 lots sold), followed by the very first exhibition-sale in 2020 (total: €3.5 million). And a second exceptional retrospective in 2025, which also achieved record sales.
To ensure that your pages are kept in good condition, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the media used to produce them. Although Indian ink is a perennial material, the paper support may change when exposed to UV light. Note that watercolor plates require special attention, as this medium is particularly sensitive to light. Pieces containing pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made of pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.
Grzegorz Rosinski, born in 1941 in Poland, is a renowned artist, painter, graphic designer, and illustrator. At the age of 16, he published his first drawings and began a constant quest for artistic renewal. A graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, he became the art director of Relax, Poland’s first comic book magazine. After moving to Belgium in 1976, he met Jean Van Hamme and, together with him, created the famous Thorgal saga. At the same time, he produced other notable works such as Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel, Hans, and Complainte des landes perdues. Passionate about experimentation, he later switched from pen and ink to oil painting, notably for La Vengeance du comte Skarbek. In 2010, he began overseeing the spin-off series Les Mondes de Thorgal and stopped drawing the main series in 2018. A multiple award winner, whose work has been exhibited internationally and celebrated in several retrospectives, he currently lives and works in Switzerland.
