Thorgal

Thorgal is a legendary Franco-Belgian comic book series combining heroic fantasy and science fiction, set against a backdrop of Scandinavian mythology. Created by Jean Van Hamme (script) and Grzegorz Rosinski (art), it began in 1977 in the Belgian magazine "Le Journal de Tintin", and was subsequently published as collected volumes by Éditions du Lombard. The main series comprises forty-two volumes, thirty-six of which were illustrated by Grzegorz Rosinski up until 2018. From that point onwards, two leading artists took up the baton: Yves Sente as scriptwriter and Fred Vignaux as illustrator. Today, the Thorgal universe encompasses several spin-off series: "Les Mondes de Thorgal", "Louve", "Kriss de Valnor", "La Jeunesse de Thorgal" and "Thorgal Saga", written by Xavier Dorison, Fred Duval and Yann, and illustrated by Robin Recht, Corentin Rouge and Roman Surzhenko. With over sixteen million albums sold worldwide and translations into some twenty languages, the Thorgal series has propelled its creators, Grzegorz Rosinski and Jean Van Hamme, to the rank of Masters of contemporary comics.
