Grzegorz Rosinski Restrospective

A legendary series that began in 1977 in Le Journal de Tintin, Thorgal propelled its creators, Grzegorz Rosinski and Jean Van Hamme, to the rank of masters of contemporary comic art. Today, it has sold more than 16 million copies, spawned several spin-off series, and been translated into some 20 languages.

A key figure in Franco-Belgian comics, Grzegorz Rosinski has made a name for himself with his exceptional realistic style, his mastery of inking, and his talent as a painter. This retrospective spans more than 40 years of his career, highlighting the iconic series and albums that have left their mark on generations of readers and so many artists, such as Mathieu Lauffray, Ralph Meyer and Alex Alice.

The exhibition unveils more than 300 major artworks preserved until now by the artist's family. Among them are 150 original pages from all of Thorgal's legendary albums (Le Lombard), including rare pages from the first two volumes: La Magicienne Trahie (1977) and L'Île des Mers Gelées (1978). His other successful sagas will also be featured: Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel (Casterman), Complainte des landes perdues (Dargaud), La Vengeance du Comte Skarbek (Dargaud) and Western (Le Lombard). Finally, the artist's latest large-format paintings, created between 2000 and 2020, will be on display.
