Jordi Lafèbre and Yoann Exhibition

Les Beaux Étés by Jordi Lafebre and Zidrou is one of the most beautiful family series to have appeared in recent years. As generous as it is sunny, it recounts the holiday adventures of an adorable Belgian family: the Faldéraults. For this story, Jordi Lafebre has found the perfect balance in a refined, expressive, and dynamic graphic style, bringing to life a cast of characters who are as endearing as they are touching, while paying careful attention to the settings, landscapes and summer colors. His rare talent reveals all the freshness and poetry of this story. The exhibition presents around forty original black-and-white pages from the first five volumes of the series, as well as original color covers and artworks. Jordi Lafebre, who is also the author of Malgré tout (Dargaud), will unveil a series of previously unseen illustrations inspired by the universe and created for the event.

 

The exhibition also showcases the artwork of Yoann, a talented heir to Franquin, who has brilliantly taken up the adventures of his famous characters: Spirou, Fantasio, and the Marsupilami. It brings together nearly 200 pages and artworks from his Spirou & Fantasio and SuperGroom albums published by Dupuis, and from his Toto l'ornithorynque and Donjon Monsters series published by Delcourt. An outstanding artist, Yoann is able to adapt his graphic style to his different series, switching from black and white to direct color with disarming ease. The acrylic pages of Toto l'ornithorynque are proof of his immense talent as a colorist, expressed through a palette of bright, perfectly mastered colors. His black and white Spirou pages, on the other hand, reveal the effectiveness of a more classic, extremely dynamic inking style that plunges us back into the heart of the adventures of the most famous bellboy.
