Le Marsupilami is one of those series that needs no introduction. Its bouncing, yellow-furred hero with black spots and an enormous tail has been escaping hunters trying to capture him for 35 volumes now. Originally a character from the Spirou et Fantasio series, the standalone series truly began in 1987 under the direction of André Franquin, Greg, and Batem.
Surrounded by the Marsupilamie and their three babies, Bobo, Bibi, and Bibu, the Marsupilami—known as Marsu to his friends—tries to lead a peaceful life but often finds himself defending humans and animals in difficult situations, when he is not protecting himself. The main ingredient of the series, humor, relies heavily on the Marsupilami’s tail, often responsible for chains of hilarious mishaps, as well as on his mischievous personality.
Continued by other writers and artists, and adapted into animated series and a film, Le Marsupilami has certainly not finished making headlines!
