His spectacular style and explosive colouring have made Palacios one of the most brilliant artists of the Spanish school. His precise, hatched lines, his mastery of depth and perspective, and his striking colour palette offer an unrivalled visual spectacle.

Antonio Palacios remains an accessible artist, with his comic book pages selling for a few thousand euros. Buoyed by his flagship series, Mac Coy, his market value remains stable, as evidenced by the two exhibition-sales organized by the Galerie Daniel Maghen in 2016 and 2023. Although he came to comics relatively late in life, Palacios quickly established himself as a key figure in the legacy of the Franco-Belgian Western genre. 

To ensure that your pages are kept in good condition, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the media used to produce them. Although Indian ink is a perennial material, the paper support may change when exposed to UV light. Note that watercolor plates require special attention, as this medium is particularly sensitive to light. Pieces containing pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made of pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity

Born in Madrid in 1921, Antonio Hernández Palacios had his studies at the School of Fine Arts cut short by the Spanish Civil War. He then went on to build a solid career in illustration, advertising, poster design and animation before turning his hand to comic art. In 1970, the magazine Trinca commissioned his first major series, Manos Kelly and El Cid, showcasing his talent to the general public. His rich, detailed and spectacular style made him one of the leading figures of the Spanish school of comic art. Spotted by Henri Filippini, he joined Dargaud and, together with Jean-Pierre Gourmelen, created the famous Western series Mac Coy, comprising 21 albums.
