Bertrand Gatignol

In Les Ogres-Dieux, a medieval fantasy tale conceived by Hubert (Peau d’Homme – A Man's Skin; Ténébreuse – Darkly She Goes), the full scope of Bertrand Gatignol’s talent is on display. Constantly playing with different scales, he brings to life a world of giants, inventing the most dizzying architecture, ferocious characters of all sizes, and sumptuous settings... An impressive technique based on black and white enhanced by shades of gray, impeccable inking, and meticulous panel layout. A true work of art. 

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. Works containing watercolor are particularly sensitive to light, unlike gouache and acrylic.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

Bertrand Gatignol studied at the Met de Penninghen studio before enrolling at the École Supérieure de Design, d’Art Graphique et d’Architecture Intérieure. After graduating, he tried his hand at matte painting for the pilot of the film Renaissance, then served as art director for a music video for the NTM rap group (2001), before turning his attention to the world of television. He then co-created the TV series Paghai with Moonscoop and designed the characters for the series Skyland as well as those for Iron Man. Meanwhile, he brought his TV series Mikido into production for France 3. Today, Bertrand Gatignol divides his time between creating characters for TV series, illustrating children’s books, and working on comic books. Starting in 2014, he put his graphic artistry to work on a dark medieval universe imagined by Hubert in Les Ogres-Dieux (published by Soleil), the first volume of which was released that same year.
