With a keen sense of movement and a particularly dynamic, cinematic approach to framing, Fabrice Meddour’s style draws inspiration from his background in animation. His direct coloring technique, often using watercolors, imbues his pages with a luminous quality, which stands out against dense, immersive and meticulously detailed backdrops, whether historically inspired or purely fantastical. Refined, powerful and effective, Meddour’s artwork is instantly recognisable.
To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.
Following a short story about the Devil in Les Récits (The Stories), he embarked on his major project: the four-volume Hispanola series published by Vents d’Ouest. In 2001, he began Enwin (Soleil), proving that he is just as comfortable with fantasy as with other genres. After placing his series Gilles de Carpe (Soleil) on hold, Meddour returned to Vents d’Ouest in 2005 with Ganarah. In 2009, he contributed to the L’Ultime Chimère (The Ultimate Chimera) project—a science fiction series where several artists illustrated different historical periods, based on a script by L.F. Bollée, and to La Geste des Chevaliers Dragons (The Geste of the Dragon Knights) for Soleil. In 2012, he illustrated John Arthur Livingstone - Le Roi des singes (John Arthur Livingstone – The King of the Monkeys), written by Bonifay. He subsequently signed with Glénat to create a dark adaptation of the fairy tale Snow White, collaborating also with Bonifay, before reuniting with Laurent-Frédéric Bollée for the Espace Vital (Vital Space) trilogy. In 2021, Glénat published La Fille du Quai (The Girl of the Wharf) (written by Alexine). Complete biography.
