Didier Crisse has been a leading figure in the field of heroic fantasy since the late 1980s, embracing all of the genre’s conventions – from voluptuous heroines to legendary worlds. Didier Crisse has been a leading figure in the heroic fantasy genre since the late 1980s, embodying all the genre’s hallmarks: a voluptuous heroine wielding a greatsword, an iconic villain, and a plot full of twists and turns. Along with L’Atalante, L’Épée de Cristal (The Crystal Sword) remains the artist’s most sought-after series, as evidenced by the cover of the first volume, which sold for €8,159, and the very first original page from the saga, which sold for €4,020 (in 2019 and 2023, respectively, at Daniel Maghen Auctions). Crisse remains an accessible artist who is in high demand among collectors nostalgic for the golden age of fantasy. 

To ensure that your pages are kept in good condition, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the media used to produce them. Although Indian ink is a perennial material, the paper support may change when exposed to UV light. Note that watercolor plates require special attention, as this medium is particularly sensitive to light. Pieces containing pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made of pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity

Crisse is a Belgian comic artist who, as a child, dreamt of becoming a footballer or an illustrator for Disney. After making his debut at Dupuis and later at Lombard with Nahomi, he quickly established his penchant for charismatic heroines and fantasy worlds. Success came with L’Épée de Cristal (The Crystal Sword), created with Jacky Goupil, followed by series such as Lorette, Harpyre and Perdita Queen. He then joined Soleil, where he created or developed several notable series, including Kookaburra and Petit Homme. With Atalante, he brought to life one of his most iconic characters.
