An absolutely exceptional draftsman and inker, Dany stands out for the elegance of his line, the precision of his storytelling, and his remarkable ability to move effortlessly between fantasy, realism, adventure, and humor throughout a career spanning more than six decades.

Versatile and prolific cartoonist, Dany has maintained a steady presence in the market. His extensive body of work cements his place among the classic artists of Belgian comics, yet his work remains accessible to fans of the genre and those nostalgic for the golden age of Le Journal de Tintin. His covers for Olivier Rameau and his direct-color illustrations are among this artist’s most sought-after works. 

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. Works containing watercolor are particularly sensitive to light, unlike gouache and acrylic.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

Born in 1943, Dany is one of the major figures of Franco-Belgian comics. Trained in graphic design and advertising, he began his career as an assistant to Mittéï before joining Greg’s studio. He first gained recognition through Olivier Rameau, a series that showcased his gift for creating imaginative and fantastical worlds. In 1977, he adopted a more realistic style with Histoire sans Héros. He subsequently pursued an eclectic career through series such as Arlequin, Bernard Prince, and Equator. During the 1990s, he achieved major international success with Ça vous intéresse ?, widely regarded as a landmark series in humorous erotic illustration. Constantly seeking new artistic challenges, he later illustrated the spin-off series Les Guerrières de Troy. In 2020, he published his first graphic novel, Un homme qui passe, before collaborating with Yann on Spirou et la Gorgone Bleue in 2023. Complete biography
