Pascal Moguérou

A specialist in the fairies and legends of Brittany, Pascal Moguérou paints the Fair Folk and the creatures that inhabit it in oil, with humor, poetry and, at times, sensuality.

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. Works containing watercolor are particularly sensitive to light, unlike gouache and acrylic.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

Pascal Moguérou obtained his baccalaureate with a specialization in art before going on to study literature at university, followed by two years of fine art. He became an illustrator almost by chance, while doing the artwork for a booklet of Breton music for the publishing house Coop Breizh. This first experience proved decisive: his first book, Légendes et contes de Bretagne (Legends and Tales of Brittany), marked the beginning of a body of work entirely devoted to the Fair Folk and the legends of his native land. As much a storyteller as an illustrator, he went on to publish numerous books on korrigans, fairies and creatures of the moor, notably with Au Bord des Continents, for whom he was one of the very first artists. He has also contributed to anthologies such as L’Univers des dragons (The Universe of Dragons) published by Daniel Maghen, as well as Sombres féeries (Dark Fairylands) and Le Fabuleux Abéféedaire farfelu (The Fabulous Wacky Alphabet-of-Faerie) published by Le Lombard. Recognized as one of the artists restoring contemporary fantasy to its former glory, he also shares his expertise through sketchbooks and sketch pads aimed at enthusiasts of drawing fantastical creatures.
