Hyun Jin Kim

A close collaborator and manager of the legendary Kim Jung Gi, with whom he co-founded the AniChanga art school in Seoul, Kim Hyun Jin is a highly talented artist who carries on the South Korean tradition of freehand observational drawing without preparatory sketches.

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. Works containing watercolor are particularly sensitive to light, unlike gouache and acrylic.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

Born in 1971 in Busan, South Korea, Hyun Jin Kim studied Western painting before meeting the artist Kim Jung Gi in 2001, with whom he co-founded the Superani collective. He then set his own artistic career aside to devote himself to promoting his friend, collecting and publishing Kim Jung Gi's numerous sketchbooks since 2007, through his eponymous publishing house. As the founder of the AniChanga School in Seoul, he trains young artists using a method that has become the hallmark of the collective, which now boasts some sixty members. Since Kim Jung Gi's passing in 2022, he has been working to carry on his legacy around the world. Complete biography.
