Gauckler, Grun and Jarbinet Exhibition

Philippe Gauckler, whose precocious genius was expressed in the Blue series published in Métal hurlant in the 1980s, returns to his roots 35 years later with the science fiction diptych Kebek (published by Daniel Maghen). For this saga, the author uses a palette dominated by shades of blue. It's a bold graphic choice that perfectly matches the mysterious atmosphere of this story set in a remote province of Quebec. The beauty of his female characters is truly embodied by Adamante, the series' fascinating heroine. This remarkable artwork will be on display in the exhibition through eighty original pages and illustrations from Kebek.

The exhibition also showcases the artist Grun and his successful three-volume series: On Mars (published by Daniel Maghen). With its sets, costumes, robots, and technologies, Grun literally transports readers to Mars alongside Jasmine, who leads the revolt on the prison- planet. His exceptional drawings and coloring bring to life this breathtaking science fiction epic imagined by Sylvain Runberg. Grun will unveil nearly seventy original pages, covers, and artworks from the series, including a dozen previously unseen illustrations created especially for the event.

Finally, the exhibition presents Philippe Jarbinet's artwork through the originals from his iconic series Airborne 44, considered one of the benchmark series on World War II. Jarbinet revisits the highlights of the conflict (the Normandy landings, the Battle of the Bulge, etc.) : a veritable playground for the realistic artist, who brings to life spectacular scenes filled with the sound of exploding mines, tanks and fighter planes. Around sixty original watercolor pages from the series will be on display, as well as original covers and illustrations, including large-format pieces created especially for the exhibition.
