A traveling artist, talented watercolorist, and wonderful sketchbook artist, the versatile creator Emmanuel Lepage never ceases to explore the theme of travel in comic art. He is, in fact, the first comic artist to be awarded the title of Official Painter of the Navy. His talent as a watercolorist, the delicacy of his color palette and his mastery of light are matched only by the sensitivity of his stories, transforming his pages into true works of art.

Emmanuel Lepage, the Navy’s official painter since 2021, never ceases to amaze with the evocative power of his watercolors. His work, which is truly distinctive, resonates deeply with collectors, as evidenced by the success of each of his exhibitions. Pieces from the “Muchacho” and “Voyage to the Desolation Islands” series are particularly sought after. 

To ensure that your pages are kept in good condition, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the media used to produce them. Although Indian ink is a perennial material, the paper support may change when exposed to UV light. Note that watercolor plates require special attention, as this medium is particularly sensitive to light. Pieces containing pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made of pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity

An author, illustrator, sketchbook artist and avid traveler from Brittany, born in 1966 in Saint-Brieuc, Emmanuel Lepage is a leading figure in contemporary comic art. After making his debut with Névé (1991–1998), he achieved success with La Terre sans mal (The Land Without Evil, 1999) and Muchacho (2004–2006). A versatile creator, he explores a style blending documentary and introspection in artworks such as Voyage aux îles de la Désolation (Voyage to the Desolation Islands, 2011), Un Printemps à Tchernobyl (Springtime in Chernobyl, 2012), La Lune est blanche (The Moon is White, 2014), and Ar-Men, L’enfer des enfers (Ar-Men, The Hell of Hells, 2017), as well as collaborations like Au pied des étoiles (At the Foot of the Stars, 2024). The recipient of numerous awards, Emmanuel Lepage is the first comic artist to be named Official Painter of the Navy in 2021. His artwork has been showcased at numerous festivals and is the subject of many exhibitions at the Galerie Daniel Maghen.
