With each album, Efa resonates with his subject and adapts his technique and style to the narrative. Vibrant watercolors for Django: Hand of Fire, gouache applied in small strokes for Monet, Itinerant of Light, and delicate, evanescent pastels for Degas: The Dance of Solitude. Efa remains one of the few comic artists capable of effortlessly mastering multiple color drawing techniques. 

To ensure that your pages are kept in good condition, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the media used to produce them. Although Indian ink is a perennial material, the paper support may change when exposed to UV light. Note that watercolor plates require special attention, as this medium is particularly sensitive to light. Pieces containing pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made of pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

A self-taught artist, Efa developed his artistic sensibility through a blend of drawing and rock music before making his debut as a freelance animator and illustrator. In 2001, he published Les Icariades (written by Termens, published by Paquet) and quickly went on to create a series of artworks for various publishers. His artistic style gradually took shape across a variety of genres, from adventure to social commentary to historical fiction. In 2017, he teamed up with Salva Rubio for Monet, nomade de la lumière (Le Lombard), which earned him an Eisner Award nomination and confirmed his strong affinity for artist biographies. He repeated the experience in 2020 with Django Main de feu, a remarkable graphic novel about Django Reinhardt’s youth, published in the Aire libre collection by Dupuis and featuring a foreword by Thomas Dutronc. Still collaborating with Rubio, he is currently working on Degas: The Dance of Solitude, thus continuing a body of work deeply rooted in painting, music, and light.
