Patrick Prugne

A French scriptwriter and comic artist, Patrick Prugne began drawing at a very young age and honed his skills by imitating his favorite artists: Pratt, Manara, Juillard, Loisel... He started his career as a commercial illustrator before turning to comic art. His first artwork, a pastiche of La Fontaine’s fable The Hare and the Tortoise, won the Alph-Art Avenir award at the Angoulême Festival in 1990. He then began approaching publishers and, in 1991, with Goupil as writer, launched the humorous series Nelson et Trafalgar (Vents d’Ouest), which was an immediate success. In 1999, he drew a fantasy story, Fol, before embarking on the L’Auberge du bout du monde (The Inn at the End of the World) trilogy with Tiburce Oger (Casterman). Still collaborating with Tiburce, he published the highly acclaimed Canoë Bay ten years later with Daniel Maghen, before releasing Frenchman (2009), Pawnee (2013), Iroquois (2016), Pocahontas (2022) and Cheyenne (2026) on his own. In addition to his Native American sagas, and again with Daniel Maghen, he published Vanikoro (2018) to explore the tragic fate of the Lapérouse expedition, followed by Écoute s’il pleut (Listen If It's Raining), 2024), with Rodolphe as writer, depicting 1960s Normandy. Not to mention Poulbots (Street Kids), published by Margot in 2015. His graphic novel Cheyenne was released in 2026 by Daniel Maghen. In 2021, the Quai des Bulles Festival in Saint-Malo dedicated a major exhibition to Patrick Prugne titled Sagas indiennes for its 40th edition. His artworks have been regularly exhibited at the Daniel Maghen Gallery in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022.
