Frank Le Gall

A staunch advocate of la ligne claire (the clear line style), Le Gall places Théodore Poussin within the great Franco-Belgian tradition while infusing it with his own personal energy and aesthetic sensibility. His linework, initially rounded and elegant, is supported by meticulous storytelling and a sensitive evocation of the maritime and colonial atmospheres of Asia. Le Gall quickly sets himself apart from the canons of the Belgian School to focus on a masterfully crafted narrative that ranks him among the finest storytellers of his generation. 

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

Born on September 23, 1959, in Rouen, Frank Le Gall published his first series, Pouce de Plein-Vent (Plein-Vent Thumb), in the magazine Pistil at the age of 16. He quickly joined the team at the Journal de Spirou, where, starting in 1981, he brought to life the adventures of saxophonist Valry Bonpain, before creating his iconic character, Théodore Poussin, in 1984—a young adventurer from Dunkirk inspired by the author’s own grandfather. The third volume, Marie Vérité (Mary Truth), written with Yann, earned him the Best Album Award at Angoulême in 1989, and the sixth volume won the Audience Award in 1993. A writer for other artists (Miss Annie, Là où vont les fourmis), as well as a painter and novelist, he resumed the Théodore Poussin series in 2018 after a thirteen-year hiatus and received the Grand Prix de bande dessinée from l'Académie Victor Rossel (the Victor Rossel Comic Art Academy) in 2019.
