Undertaker

Rooted in the purest traditions of the Western genre, with an unforgiving Wild West worthy of Blueberry, Undertaker has succeeded in the delicate challenge of renewing a genre deeply embedded in the history of comics. The entire strength of the series lies in its main character: Jonas Crow, an enigmatic undertaker with a sharp tongue. The figure of the undertaker, rarely explored before, allows the series to tackle dark and sometimes highly political themes (colonization, religious fanaticism, abortion, greed, and more) through two-part stories featuring unique and memorable characters. Ralph Meyer’s dynamic artwork and masterful sense of composition, Caroline Delabie’s coloring, and Xavier Dorison’s uncompromising scripts have established the series as one of the great achievements of contemporary Western comic art.
