Tintin

Who does not know the famous reporter and his equally famous dog Milou (Snowy)? Created in 1929 by Hergé, Tintin made his debut in the youth supplement of the newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle.

Initially a great improviser in his working methods, Hergé’s found that his encounter with the student Zhang Chongren pushed him to carry out more extensive research and strengthen his scripts, marking a turning point in the series from the fifth album onward. Interrupted for a time during the war, the creation of the Journal de Tintin allowed its hero to resume his adventures alongside the fiery Captain Haddock, Professor Tournesol (Professor Calculus), and the unforgettable detectives Dupond and Dupont (Thomson and Thomson).

The series' humor relies heavily on a colorful cast of characters and the friction between them, creating a burlesque and good-natured comedy inherited from silent cinema. A true globetrotter, Tintin has taken his readers to every corner of the world, from the Congo to the Moon, passing through America, Egypt, and Tibet.

Illustrated with a remarkable commitment to clarity and realism, Hergé’s artwork gave rise to an entire graphic movement that would lay the foundations of Franco-Belgian comics: the Ligne Claire (clear line).

A classic among classics, translated into more than a hundred languages, the hero with the distinctive quiff has far surpassed the boundaries of comic art to become the worldwide phenomenon we know today.
