A defining classic of maritime comic art from the 1990s, L’Épervier follows the gripping adventures of Yann de Kermeur, an eighteenth-century Breton privateer wrongly accused of murder. After honing his skills on Barbe-Rouge as the artistic successor to Victor Hubinon, Pellerin embarked on a solo career with an entirely original series inspired by the legendary smuggler from Brest known as the “Épervier de Crozon.”
Backed by extensive historical research and a realistic visual style, the narrative quickly achieved widespread acclaim and spans 10 volumes published between 1994 and 2020. Over the years, Patrice Pellerin has given free rein to his two great passions: history and the vessels of the era. He is now considered one of the leading figures in the genre.
