Scott Gustafson

Working exclusively in oil and gouache, Scott Gustafson follows in the tradition of classic American illustration, with a style that leans towards the fantastical, featuring rounded, luminous expressions and narrative scenes of great pictorial richness, in which each painting reads like a fairy-tale illustration in its own right.

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. Works containing watercolor are particularly sensitive to light, unlike gouache and acrylic.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.

Scott Gustafson is an American illustrator who has spent over 25 years working in children’s illustration for numerous magazines and children’s books. He has illustrated literary classics such as Peter Pan and The Night Before Christmas, as well as more recent titles like Classic Fairy Tales, Favorite Nursery Rhymes from Mother Goose and Classic Bedtime Stories. In 2011, he published his first novel: Eddie: The Lost Youth of Edgar Allan Poe, followed by Storybook Fables (Artisan) in 2017.
