Le Grand pouvoir du Chninkel

An iconic duo in the world of comic art and the creators behind the legendary Thorgal, Rosinski and Van Hamme also collaborated on the series Le Grand pouvoir du Chninkel, first published starting in 1986 in (À Suivre). In a world ravaged by endless wars, the small J’on, a Chninkel whose people have been reduced to slavery, is chosen by a mysterious deity to undertake a seemingly impossible mission: to convince the three lords who divide the world among themselves to put an end to war. In return, his people will regain their freedom. For this series, Rosinski set aside color and created spectacular black-and-white artwork, whose delicate linework, play of contrasts, and richly detailed settings reinforce the epic dimension of the story. Blending Tolkien-inspired fantasy, religious allegory, and philosophical reflections on destiny, all infused with humor, this multifaceted work undoubtedly ranks among the classics of the genre.
