Carter Goodrich is an illustrator and character designer. He has designed characters for several major animated films, including The Prince of Egypt, Finding Nemo, The Croods, Brave, Open Season, Despicable Me, Coco, Hotel Transylvania, and Ratatouille. Among the many children’s books he has written and illustrated, some have been published in France, including Say Hello to Zorro!, Oh, What a Beautiful Coat for Zorro!, and No Hugs for Cacti. In addition to his artwork in books and film, he has also illustrated more than twenty covers for The New Yorker magazine. His talent has been recognized with two gold medals from the Society of Illustrators. Carter currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
Carter manages to breathe life into every eccentric he draws. His trademark blend of ruthless observation and astonishing visual economy seems to cut straight to the pitiable souls of his characters. And his masterful watercolors convey the dry, faded atmosphere of places as cruel as they are pathetic.
