RanXerox

Created in Italy in 1978 by the duo Tanino Liberatore and Stefano Tamburini, RanXerox was published in France starting in 1981 in L'Écho des Savanes. Ranx is an android assembled from photocopier parts, who, after a short circuit, falls in love with a foul-mouthed 12-year-old junkie. Ready to do anything to please her, Ranx goes from mass slaughter to music hall performances without ever backing down. With its trashy, ultra-violent and deliberately provocative script, carried by artwork that was ahead of its time, RanXerox anticipated an entire branch of graphic cyberpunk, blending a fierce satire of consumer society with pure aesthetic release.
