Kim Jung Gi Exhibition
Bastille Design Center
Bastille Design Center, Paris 11
Tuesday to Saturday, 10.30 am – 7 pm. Free entry.
To mark the France-Korea Year, the Daniel Maghen Gallery is delighted to host an exceptional exhibition by Kim Jung Gi, the South Korean artist known on the international art scene for his freehand illustrations created in public.
Une image, 1000 histoires
Known for his drawing shows, during which he creates large-format illustrations in just a few hours, Kim Jung Gi emerged on the international scene in 2011. His incredible talent as an illustrator quickly earned him recognition from artists around the world, including Takashi Murakami, who has already acquired several of his artworks. His performances are true spectacles, during which he creates large, freehand frescoes bursting with life.
This event, organized by Galerie Daniel Maghen and Éditions SuperAni, is a world first, bringing together more than 100 pieces created during his demonstrations in Europe, Asia and the United States. The artist will also present his masterpiece: a Dante-esque illustration measuring more than 5 meters, created in 2012 and exhibited for the first time outside South Korea. Rarely seen, this exhibition will feature color pieces, pages from his series Spy Games (written by JD Morvan, published by Glénat) and Tiger The Long Tail (published by CNC Révolution), as well as his early artwork.
To provide the most beautiful setting for these artworks, Galerie Daniel Maghen will present them at the Bastille Design Center, a former workshop with timeless charm that has been converted into an unusual exhibition space.
Kim Jung Gi will demonstrate his talents at the opening of the exhibition in front of what is already shaping up to be a large audience. Don't miss this opportunity to admire the artist at work and discover Kim Jung Gi's career through pieces from all styles and periods.
Daniel Maghen, Kim Jung Gi and Éditions SuperAni are delighted to invite you to the opening on Thursday, February 4, from 6 p.m.
