The Daniel Maghen Gallery is proud to present the very first exhibition and sale dedicated to Argentine cartoonist Juan Gimenez and one of the greatest science fiction sagas of the 9th Art: La Caste des Méta-barons (The Metabarons, published by Les Humanoïdes associés, 1992-2003), created by the great Alejandro Jodorowsky, from October 15 to November 9, 2019.
A rare exhibition
This is a rare opportunity to admire the original artworks of one of the masters of hyper-realistic science fiction comic art, who brought to life a masterpiece of the genre: the incredible, outrageous, and excessive epic of the lineage of the most powerful warriors in the universe. Intergalactic wars, delirious stellar creatures, sculptural beauties with flowing manes... Gimenez creates spectacular full-color panels, full of fury and teeming with detail.
The exhibition brings together nearly 120 pages, illustrations, and extremely rare original covers preserved by the artist himself and offered for sale for the first time. This event follows the success of the sale of the first cover in the series, which fetched €37,700, setting a new world record, at an auction organized by Daniel Maghen Enchères et Expertises on October 11. Also on display will be the exceptional covers of Le Quatrième Pouvoir (The Fourth Power), as well as a selection of original pages from the series.
