A striking exhibition
To mark the release of the complete edition of Journal d’une emmerdeuse (published by Weekend on Mars/Akileos), the Daniel Maghen Gallery is proud to welcome Cromwell for an exhibition dedicated to Anita Bomba.
Cromwell's offbeat, provocative, and subversive universe never fails to make an impression. His caustic stories, brought to life by striking graphics, have been the hallmark of his artwork since he founded the Asylum studio alongside Riff Reb's (Hommes à la mer, Qu'ils y restent, etc.) and Qwak (Le Soleil des loups, Chasseurs de dragons).
Five years after his last exhibition, Cromwell presents more than fifty pages and illustrations based on his iconic character: Anita Bomba. His nuanced artwork exploits a limited color palette accentuated by powerful inking. He brilliantly challenges the codes of propriety within the 9th Art through dense material effects with eye-catching textures. His technique, a mixture of acrylic and Indian ink, gives a unique depth to his resolutely punk artwork.
Daniel Maghen and Cromwell are delighted to invite you to the exhibition opening on Thursday, May 4, from 7 p.m.
