Quentin Gréban discovered a passion for drawing at an early age, encouraged by his father and initially drawn to portraiture. He studied illustration at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels and published his first album with Mijade just a few months after graduating in 1999. From the very beginning, his illustrations attracted attention: selected for the Bologna Annual in 1999 for his artwork on Nils Holgersson, he won the Saint-Exupéry Prize in 2000 for Les Contes de l’alphabet (The Alphabet Tales), and was subsequently included in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair’s annual selection on several occasions. Staying true to his technique of watercolor over pencil sketches, he draws inspiration from Edmond Dulac, Rebecca Dautremer, Édouard Manet and Liesbeth Zwerger, blending classic fairy tales – such as those by Andersen and Grimm – with more personal stories. A prolific artist, he has published and illustrated nearly seventy children’s books, which have been translated into numerous languages and distributed throughout Europe. As the father of three daughters, he also draws on his family life for the material of his bedtime stories, which range from made-up tales to adaptations read aloud.
