Illustrations of Great Softness
Julie Mellan was born in Annecy in 1988 and has been drawing every day since she could hold a pencil. After earning a high school diploma in literature, she studied academic drawing, illustration, and animation at the École Émile Cohl in Lyon. For nearly a decade, she has published numerous children’s books, collaborating notably with Penguin Random House on The Last Rabbit, and with Fleurus Mame on the series Les Belles Histoires de grand-mère and Les Merveilleuses Histoires de grand-père. True to her brushes and devoted to traditional techniques, she loves using watercolor to bring small, endearing, and mischievous animals to life. In 2024, she published the first volume of the series Les Géniales Inventions de Léonard le renard, Méli-mélo de saisons, with Le concours de Tarte and Un pour tous et tous pour Zélie following, in 2025.
